Our Role
At The Village Montessori we believe that all we do is founded on trust and respect.
Nature provides all of us with an innate drive to learn, to seek out new experiences, to explore with our hands in order to make sense of and adapt to our world.
Our role at The Village Montessori is to provide an environment in harmony with the child’s natural development, characterised by warmth, acceptance, consistency and challenge. It is built on order and freedom, freedom to choose activities, to move around, to take our time, to be with others or alone, within a safe, supportive framework.
We nurture each unique individual to develop at his or her own pace. We work to the child’s own timetable, observing, guiding and introducing ideas and activities only when the child is ready for them.
By so doing, the child is given the time and space to become who he or she can and should be, calm, thoughtful, joyful, curious, motivated, creative, kind, responsible, fulfilled. We believe that this approach builds self-discipline, self-awareness and self-esteem, the qualities of an independent, lifelong learner.
